This latest subject is based on a lovely photo sent in by one of our members, with a request for me to use it for a tutorial.
It immediately struck a chord with me; as this small Cornish Fishing village – which is a popular tourist attraction - was a place I went to many times on childhood holidays, and it’s actually changed very little.
The glimpse of the harbour from the walled garden of this little cottage, really lends itself to the more unusual portrait format, and it gives us a perfect opportunity to mix hard and soft shapes, contrasting the soft foliage in the distance and in front of the cottage, with the more detailed and harder shapes of the buildings and boats.
